Baby Shower

Pregnancy Chalkboard: 30 Weeks Pregnant

Today, Sarah and David's mom threw a baby shower for me.  It was nice to have one up north with my friends who live up here.  I can't believe how many cute clothes baby girl got!  She is going to be so well dressed.  I had a really great time (except for the fact that I kept having hot flashes and was sweating practically the whole time!)  I also got 3 diaper cakes!  They are all so adorable and we will definitely be using all of the diapers if I can ever bring myself to disassemble the cuteness!

I'm getting so excited for baby's arrival.  10 more weeks!

29 Weeks

Pregnancy Chalkboard: 29 Weeks Pregnant

How far along: 30 weeks and 1 day (still behind on my chalkboards but I will be catching up this week for sure!)
Gender:  Girl
Weight gain:  +22 pounds.
Maternity clothes:  Definitely.  I just got some dresses from Old Navy which are super cozy!  Dave got a kick of watching me try on clothes though...he thinks it is funny how tired I get after taking off a pair of pants and putting on another pair.
Stretch marks:  One tiny one to the right of my belly button.  I have upped my oiling/lotioning to 2-3 times a day now.
Belly button in our out:  In.  It has a ways to go before it pops out.
Sleep:  I have only had one night where I struggled to roll over - other than that it has been okay except for my frequent trips to the bathroom.
Best moment of the week:  Finally getting unpacked and cleaning the whole house.  I feel like I can relax a little bit now.
Miss anything:  Not constantly worrying about falling up or down the stairs.  My center of gravity has definitely changed and I feel more clumsy than ever.
Movement:  She moves all the time.  When I try to push back though, she just moves to another spot.
Cravings:  Cake.  Seriously considering going to a bakery and sampling wedding cakes since I never got to do that for our wedding.  Is it too late to cash in my free cake tasting?
Queasy or sick:  Just really tired and not wanting to move.  I also woke up with a pounding headache this morning.
Looking forward to:  My first baby shower this weekend!  Dave's sister is in town with her kids and we are excited to spend time with them.

Still Not Done Unpacking

I know our boxes are not going to unpack themselves, but it seems like everytime I make some kind of progress something new gets added to put away (more boxes of David's or piles of clean laundry).  I just need to get it done!  Maybe once we finish refurbishing our dressers I will be more inclined to get unpacked because I will actually have a place to put things instead of organized piles on the floor.

Still not internet which means my posts will likely be short and not too exciting until we have it at the house.  Maybe on my next post I will show you what chaos our bedroom looks like.  Ha!

Until next time...

Officialy Halfway To 50!

Bring on the Cinnabon’s!!!  Just got a call from the doctor saying that I passed my glucose test.  No GD!

I feel like I am so behind in my blogging and my chalkboards.  I guess that is what moving will do to you.  My free time recently has been spent either unpacking, organizing, or making shopping trips for things we realize we need (example:  a garbage can).  We also have been checking Craigslist daily for furniture that we will be able to refurbish.  We found the cutest dresser for baby girl’s room and two more dressers for our room.  Our plan is to refurb them by the end of the month which means lots of sanding and painting in our future... good thing we love do it yourself projects (I am going to try and do a post about our AMAZING dining room table we made soon…it is gorgeous!).   We have so much to do around the house to get ready for the baby, these next couple of months are going to fly by.  If I am not sleeping, I am sure I will be working on some kind of project.  Good thing my motherly nesting instincts are kicking into gear.

Last week I celebrated my 25th birthday.  It was such a good birthday.  My day started off by my baby girl throwing a dance party in my uterus from approximately midnight to 6am.  I did not sleep at all, but other than my extreme exhaustion my day went pretty well.  I was staying in Seattle for a conference and Dave came and stayed with me while I was there.  My mom and Mark took us to Chandlers for dinner.  They have the best seafood and banana cream pie!  I enjoyed half a crab along with a few other random bites of seafood …I probably should have not indulged in the raw oysters, but I couldn’t help myself and I only ate a few.  My mom and Mark also got me a sewing machine!  Yay, my obvious hinting worked.  I have a lot of sewing projects coming up so that will be helpful.  My boss also bought be flowers from Pike Place Market!  They are so pretty!

Pregnancy Chalkboard: 27 Weeks Pregnant

I know this is short, but I am writing during my lunch break.  Dave and I are getting internet at the house this week so hopefully I will be able to write more soon.

Positive GD Screening AND Anemia?!???!!!!?

At least I now know from past experiences that whenever I get a voice mail from the doctors office after some kind of test - it is not good news.  Yesterday, the nurse called to tell me that my glucose levels from my gestational diabetes test were slightly elevated (I was 135 and the cutoff is 130...high levels are 170-180).  So if you have never taken the glucose test, let me tell you about it...it sucks!  I don't mind getting my blood drawn but they make you drink this nasty nasty sugar drink in 5 minutes that makes you want to throw up.  I was told that fruit punch was the best flavor so that was the one I got.  Then you sit in the waiting room for an hour and after your time is up they draw your blood.  The nurse said that since I "failed" this test, I need to take the 3 hour diagnostic test.  Same principle with a few variations - get your blood drawn after a ten hour fast, drink the nasty sugar drink (which for this test is bigger and has twice the amount of sugar - I tried the orange flavor this time which was equally as nasty, but I would say I favor it to fruit punch), and then get more blood drawn at one, two, and three hours.  As a matter of fact I am sitting in the waiting room while I write this waiting for my last blood draw.

The nurse also told me that I was anemic which is super common in your third trimester of pregnancy because your body is producing 50% more blood.  She said I need to start taking iron supplements twice daily.

At least after all of this news I was not as freaked out as last time - although I was still worried that my baby girl might be in jeopardy - I took the news with a grain of salt since my feelings on doctors and diagnostic testing has drastically changed during my pregnancy.

Luckily, I had an appointment later in the day so I could compile all of my thoughts and figure out what I wanted to ask the doctor .  Let me just say, I LOVE my OB!  She makes me feel so comfortable and normal and she always puts me at ease when something is "wrong".  She first started by telling me that my glucose levels were not much higher than the cutoff, and that result could be from the food I ate previously in the day (they say you don't have to fast for the one hour test, but knowing what I know now, I am fasting when I take the test with my next pregnancy to prevent me from having to drink the glucose drink more than I have to.)  She also said that just to be sure, she wanted me to take the three hour test because in a small percentage of cases, women test positive, but more likely than not, I probably don't have GD.  If I did, I would have to meet with a dietitian and start testing my blood sugar four times a day.  She said as long as it is monitored, myself and baby would be fine.  She also reassured me and told me that I did not do anything to cause this (if I do have it), and that it would go away after giving birth.

As far as the anemia goes, she didn't even mention it.  I told her what the nurse said, and she told me that they just recently changed the guidelines at the clinic to match the national guidelines (and the nurses haven't been told this yet). I was right on the old cutoff number.  She said I am not anemic and I don't need to take the iron supplement unless I feel like it...maybe twice a week if I remember or if I want to.

So like I said, I am waiting in lab for my third blood draw.  I had to get up super early to get here since they are only open in the morning (and I had to go to the Mill Creek office because Everett did not have any available appointments - this building is much nicer though and smells better) and I have to stay here for so long.  I am glad they have WiFi AND that I remembered to bring a computer.  Dave and I have got a lot done as far as using up some Amazon gift cards we got for our wedding and finding some awesome furniture to refurbish on Craigslist.  We are going to use the rest of the day to run errands, return some things, and do some more shopping for our house

Well, I have to go!  Last blood draw...wish me luck - I will update with results on Monday!

All Moved In To our NEW Home

Wow it has been a pretty crazy week for us.  Last Wednesday, our lender called and told us the paper work for our house processed waaaaay sooner than expected and that we could close on Friday.  So Thursday we signed a ton of paper work and Friday we got our keys.  Saturday was packing and moving and then it has been unpacking and buying furniture since then.  We had to buy a fridge, washer, dryer, and couch.  We were able to get awesome deals and are excited to get all settled even though it will be about 3 more weeks until we get a couch!  Until then, the furniture store was nice enough to loan us a love seat so we don't have to sit on the floor.

Last night was so much fun.  We finally got to unpack all of our wedding gifts!  It was like Christmas all over again.  So far I love love love living on our own!  We are working on making our house a really cozy place for our little one who will be here in just about 12 weeks!  It is so crazy how time has flown.  This is such an exciting time in our life!  I am just so happy.

Shout out to my hubby!  Today marks one year since we got engage.  I love you Davey!

Moving Day!

How far along: 27 weeks and 6 days (I am a little behind on my chalkboard pictures...27 week pic coming soon)
Gender:  Girl
Weight gain:  Last doctor visit was 20 pounds, but I will have an updated number on Friday.  Not looking forward to my doctor visits increasing to every other week...I definitely dread the weigh in.
Maternity clothes:  Exclusively.  Maternity pants are the best!  And not only has my belly grown, but so have my boobs (2 cup sizes!) so all of my old shirts are belly shirts.
Stretch marks:  Nope.  I think I might have one tiny one that is about half an inch long next to my belly button, but Dave thinks it is a birth mark.
Belly button in our out:  Inny for life!  I swear it is not going to pop out...my belly button is freakishly deep.
Sleep:  Getting up to go to the bathroom at least once every night, but most of the time more.  Sleep isn't too terrible (especially since all of the moving and unpacking is wearing me out and making me extra tired) but I do wake up in the middle of the night a few times a week from my little ninja baby punching the mattress.
Best moment of the week:  Moving into our new house!
Miss anything:  Hot tub!  My back has been killing me and I wish I could go soak in the hot tub.  I have to settle with a warm bath which is just okay.
Movement:  All the time.  About a week ago, I think she grew to that point where I am constantly feeling her (and seeing) every hour.  Only a few kicks that have hurt and surprised me though.  Also feeling lots of flutters high in my belly (I am guess it is her teeny tiny feet).  Oh and my little girl is obsessed with my left side.  She is always on the left of my belly and I look lopsided...she must be more cozy over there though.
Cravings:  See above.
Queasy or sick:  No!  I am so glad that part of my pregnancy is over.  I would take back pain and having to pee all the time over morning sickness anyday.
Looking forward to:  Starting the nursery!  We are going to paint this weekend.

Also thought I would add one of my favorite pictures from just over a week ago.  I hate gaining weight, but I love my big belly so much!  I am going to miss it when she is born.

Best Moment of My Weekend

I have to put all shame aside to post this, only because it is really embarrassing for me...but probably more embarrassing for my husband (sorry honey!)  It is just too hilarious not to document because I know later when I read this I will laugh just as hard as I did when it happened.

So by Friday night, I am pretty pooped.  After a long week of work and growing a human all I want to do is go to bed early.  Same with Dave (minus the growing a human part).  So it is about nine o'clock and I am already in bed half asleep.  Dave finishes brushing and flossing and then turns off the lights and climbs into bed.  So every night since we found out we were having a baby, Dave always kisses my belly and says goodnight to his little girl...it is so adorable!  So after Dave turns off the lights - and it is pitch black - he climbs into bed and starts rubbing my butt. Being half asleep, I didn't move or say anything, I just thought it was weird since he knew how tired I was, but then all of a sudden he puts his head under the covers and kisses my butt and says "Goodnight baby girl".  Wow!  My husband thinks my right butt cheek is just as big as my baby bump, and they feel so similar he can't tell them apart.  I just started laughing hysterically and moved his hand to my belly and told him the baby was in my belly, not my booty.

David is so endearing...I just love him so much!
